“But why not just be a metal sculptor? Why functional object art, I asked Timar more recently. His answer hearkened back to philosophical concerns: “The world of ‘fine art’ tends to make a separation between the work of art and the viewer. It encourages an infatuation with the object instead of a relationship with it. I prefer to put my energy as an artist into making beautiful things that you can live with and use, that still have the charge that a painting would have, spiritually and intellectually, but where the relationship is one of living together, not being an onlooker. Not just a reverential relationship with a ‘masterpiece on the wall’.” Robin Sarah, Two Montreal Artists
